Who We Are
A family rooted in Sicily
Sicara was founded by Donatella and Atle Stehouwer-Broglia — a family with deep roots in the Agrigento region of Sicily. Donatella brings intimate local knowledge of the island: its laws, its people, its rhythms, and the specific complexities of buying property here as an outsider. Atle contributes international perspective, operational expertise, and an understanding of what clients coming from Northern Europe, the UK, and beyond actually need when navigating an unfamiliar market.
Together, they built Sicara around a belief they return to often: Sicily is worth doing properly.
The complexity, the distance, the systems that are difficult to understand from abroad — these are exactly the things that Sicara exists to manage. Not as a transaction. As a long-term partnership built on trust.

Fluent in Italian and English, she is the trusted local presence that makes everything work on the ground. Every client relationship begins with Donatella.
Atle Stehouwer-Broglia
Co-Founder — Strategy & Operations
With a background spanning international business, partnerships, and operational systems across Europe, Atle brings the international perspective that Sicara's clients need. He understands what buyers from the UK, Scandinavia, and Northern Europe are looking for — and builds the systems and processes that make the entire experience seamless from inquiry to completion and beyond.
